About Aimee

Aimee Winder Newton has been serving on the Salt Lake County Council since January 2014. She is the current chair of the council. Her district encompasses Murray, Taylorsville, West Valley City and West Jordan, and a small portion of South Salt Lake and Millcreek.
During her service on the council, Aimee has focused on breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty, increasing government transparency, improving the criminal justice system, and striving for greater budget accountability.
Aimee serves on the following boards: Utah Association of Counties, Salt Lake County Library, Jordan River Commission, Prevent Child Abuse Utah, Central Utah Water Conservancy District, and the Chamber West Board of Governors.
She graduated from Taylorsville High School and the University of Utah, where she received her BS in Mass Communications. She has been a small business owner since 2003 with expertise in real estate and public relations.
Aimee and her husband, Matt, have been married for over 24 years and enjoy their four children, ages 22, 20, 16 and 14. In her spare time she loves to help other women get involved in government, serve in her church, and travel with her family.
